If you’re staring at the Passport Seva website wondering where to even begin, you’re not alone. Every year, millions of Indians go through this exact process, and most of the confusion comes from a handful of things: which login to use, which documents actually count as address proof, how much you’ll really pay after the July 2026 fee hike, and what happens once you walk into the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK).

Step 4: Pay the Fee and Schedule Your PSK Appointment

2. Select your ARN, then click Pay and Schedule Appointment.

   • Online payment: internet banking (SBI and associate banks) or debit/credit card. This lets you book your appointment immediately.

• You pay the Normal fee online while booking; the balance Tatkal amount is paid in cash once your appointment is verified at the PSK.
• Processing is typically completed in 1–3 working days after your PSK visit, subject to document verification.
• You are not required to state a reason for urgency, but you do need to carry all standard documents in order. Tatkal applications are actually stricter about paperwork gaps, since there’s no time buffer to fix issues.
