India’s Internet Speed Will Double with Three Undersea Optic Cable Links
Internet connection in India is expected to triple fast. India’s three underwater cable projects are going to be launched.
These include Africa Pearls, India-Asia Express (IAX), and India-Europe Express (IEX). It is expected that all three will be operating between October of this year and March of next year.
These projects, once completed, will have four times the capacity of current underwater cable networks.
Submarine cables are very strong optical lines that connect continents beneath the sea. They enable high-speed data transport on a worldwide scale.
As the initiatives go live, India’s digital environment will improve significantly. India would be able to provide faster global connection and improved data exchange.
Africa Cable System will be the world’s largest underwater cable system. This cable can carry 180 gigabytes of data per second across a distance of more than 45000 kilometres.
It links 33 nations. One of these is the Bharti Airtel landing station in Mumbai. Several firms have invested in the project, including Bharti Airtel, Meta, and Saudi Telecom.
Several corporations, notably Jio and China Mobile are investing in the IAX and IEX cable projects.
These will reach Mumbai and Chennai, respectively.IEX has a data transfer capability of more than 200 TB per second. The length is 9775 km.
IAX can also transmit more than 200 TB of data per second. This 16,000-kilometre cable network connects Mumbai, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Sri Lanka.
As of 2023, 17 international subsea cables connect 14 stations in five Indian cities. The maximum data transmission capacity is 138.55 TB per second, while the active capacity is 111.11 TB per second.
